The idea of cockroach droppings is not ideal for anyone, however, if you keep an eye out for them you can avoid possible infestations. Once you have spotted cockroach droppings, you can go about looking for ways to eliminate these pests.
Identification of droppings
Cockroach droppings are quite easy to spot. They resemble coffee beans or pellets. They are dark in color such as either brown or black. The color and shade of cockroach droppings depend on its species and respective size. People sometimes confuse cockroach droppings with mouse droppings because of the striking similarity, however, there are a few key differences. Cockroach droppings have ridges while mouse droppings do not. Also, the feces of cockroach are hairless while this is not true for mouse droppings.
Where are cockroach droppings found?
Cockroaches, unlike humans, defecate without any prior notice. There are some places their droppings are most commonly found. Usually, these places are near food and water sources. Your food can also get contaminated and you can get seriously infected. Some of the places where cockroach droppings are most likely to be found include:
1. In the small corners of the room like alongside the baseboard
2. On top of high objects-this includes cupboards, cabinets, shelves, and even doors
3. Inside storage areas such as drawers, cabinets, closets, and even in pantries
4. Toy chests
5. Little children’s playpens
6. Under tight spaces such as stoves, dryers, washers, and sinks
7. Behind places like stoves, dryers, sinks, and washers
8. Floor cracks
9. Floor openings
10. On papers
11. Inside cardboard boxes
Why should you look for these droppings?
Cockroach droppings can be very dangerous for asthma patients as it increases its severity. This can trigger asthma and make it worse if not detected and removed immediately. It is dangerous and risky for other members of the family as well especially for children and the elderly. The droppings can cause serious infections if people come in contact with it so it is better to remove it yourself.
How can you remove these droppings?
If you want to remove it yourself, just vacuum it thoroughly. Vacuuming it eliminates the chances of the droppings causing airborne diseases. Discard the feces in the vacuum carefully wearing all necessary clothing. After this, sanitize the area with water and soap. This will remove any stains and will also sanitize the area of any bacteria. Do a thorough inspection to make sure all droppings are removed even from the tiniest of places.
