Do cockroach foggers work?

Do cockroach foggers work?

When you have a house full of cockroaches, it is only natural to think of the many ways to get rid of them. When you research or ask people, lots of different ideas are given ranging from traps to baits. Amongst the list of these many ways, one such way of eliminating cockroaches is using a cockroach fogger. Now, a fogger is another pest control method that involves releasing many pesticides into the air that ends up killing the pests. A lot of people recommend using a cockroach fogger to remove cockroaches. However, does it work, and is it worth spending money on? Before we move ahead, it is vital to understand how foggers work. A fogger must involve throwing this cockroach bomb into the air. It then sprays the pesticides on the ground which then covers all the pests or creatures present below.

Non-penetrative

A fogger has a certain adventurous appeal to it, however, when it comes to its functionality this is not the case. People back the claim that once the fogger is in the air, it can travel and disperse in the air and kill the cockroaches. In reality, this is not true. The fogger does not disperse in the air nor does it penetrate any small spaces like cracks to kill cockroaches.

Lacks certain ingredients

Sometimes foggers are also ineffective because they do not contain the active ingredient to kill cockroaches.

Cannot confine cockroaches

Another reason why foggers do not work is that all the cockroaches need to be confined to one room for it to kill all the roaches and this is not possible. Cockroaches hide in places that are dark and difficult to find. You can never gather all the cockroaches in a room and then attempt to fog them so that they can be killed. This method will fall flat on its face.

Dangerous

Apart from cockroach foggers being highly ineffective, they are also very dangerous. These foggers or pest bombs can be dangerous for you, your family, your pets, and even your property. When the fogger goes about in the air, the fumes can damage the furniture and flooring. If you inhale these fumes, it can harm you immensely. Sometimes foggers can be highly concentrated and are released near gases or electric appliances; this is dangerous as it can result in huge fires.

Alternatives

As mentioned above, cockroach foggers are ineffective and dangerous, to say the least. They do not eliminate the problem but rather create other issues. Cockroach foggers do not address the root cause of the infestation and are not worth the trouble. There are some other alternatives that you can use instead of this to solve the cockroach issue.

Bait

You can use bait to attract the animal and then kill it. It creates less fuss than foggers.

Remove all food sources

Make sure there are no food sources that can attract the cockroaches to your property.

Professional help

You can also call a professional exterminator to solve the cockroach infestation issue.
