How to get rid of cockroaches

How to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are incredibly hard to deal with. Now, before we get started it is important to know some basics. Three species of cockroaches mostly infest homes and they include German cockroaches, American cockroaches, and Oriental cockroaches. Once they have found their way inside your house, they will cling on to it and make every possible effort to stay indoors. During this time, your goal should be to not get demotivated and try to do things to get rid of these pests. If their population is not controlled, it won’t be long that you will be dealing with a full-blown roach infestation. This roach infestation can affect you physically and mentally hence, it is best if it is dealt with immediately.

Glue strips

There are many cockroach control methods you can enact but before that, you should analyze the situation at your property to know more about the infestation. Pick up a functioning flashlight and look in places that are most commonly inhabited by roaches. These places can include behind the refrigerator, inside cabinets and cupboards, under the sink, between doors, and even inside wall cracks. Now, you can locate the high alert places with glue strips. After you have looked at all the possible places with the flashlight, you will be well-informed about these areas. Place these glue strips in these areas and then closely monitor it for some time. The places with the most roaches will be caught and then effective treatment can be done.

Use caulk

You may be able to eliminate the cockroaches that are inside the premises but it is very unlikely that you can control the outside entry of cockroaches if you do not take any preventive measures.  You need to examine the whole property and look for possible entry points. Then, use caulk to fill in these places such as any gaps, cervices, or tile cracks. You can even use it between walls or windows. The main function of it is to avoid the infestation from expanding and getting any worse.

Gel bait

Another way you can try to get rid of cockroaches is by using gel bait. It comes in a tube and is quite effective in killing cockroaches. All you need to do is put this gel on all the places that are mostly visited by cockroaches such as under the cabinet, behind the fridge, in cracks, etc. It attracts the roaches and then kills them. You might have a handful of dead cockroaches to deal with at the end of the day

Bait station

Bait is an old school method but can be used to effectively remove all cockroaches. The poison is in the bait and when it is consumed by the cockroach; it travels to its hiding place where it dies. The dead cockroach becomes a meal for the other cockroaches and they too consume the poison resulting in mass destruction of these cockroaches. However, it may not always work as not all cockroaches end up dead like this, and poison around the house can be quite destructive hence the high risks.

Boric acid powder

Usually, boric acid is used in detergents; however, it can also be used to eliminate cockroaches. Combining boron and water can end up being highly toxic for roaches. The quantity of this boric acid has to be optimum as too little or too much can destroy its effectiveness.
